The IPTC and XMP iFilter 4SP allows users to search on typical image metadata using the standard SharePoint search function. It not only supports search in SharePoint but assets can also be found via a search in Explorer or other products such as SQL Server or Exchange Server.

Using the IPTC and XMP iFilter 4SP entirely eliminates the need to manually tag images for any content that already includes the right metadata when cataloging. Assets in SharePoint or in the file system can now be found using the SharePoint search functionality. Making assets in the file system available via a SharePoint search is as simple as adding the shared folder that contains your assets as a content source in SharePoint.
